ServSafe food-safety certification — Monday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 22, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ag Heritage Center, 185 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, Pa. The National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe course is conducted by Penn State Extension. Registrants must attend both sessions. After attending the class sessions and passing the multiple-choice exam with a 75 percent or greater score, participants will receive a ServSafe certificate, which meets the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s requirement for food-safety certification. The course covers information related to preventing cross-contamination, safe handling of food, temperature control, cleaning and sanitization, proper storage and pest control. The fee is $185 and includes a book, study materials and the exam.
