WEST ORANGE, NJ — Five students from West Orange High School were recently honored at Deutsche Bank in New York City for their outstanding performance on the Financial Literacy Certification test sponsored by the W!SE (Working in Support of Education) organization.
W!SE is an award-winning national educational non-profit dedicated to improving lives through programs that develop financial literacy and readiness for college and careers.
Brandon Dominguez, Salam Makhdoom, Celia Murphy-Braunstein, Ari Rogers and Jarvis Tam attended the Scholar’s Reception for scoring more than 95 percent on the exam. Three additional students, Brian McClendon, Noah Martin and Carina Durning, were also invited but unable attend. Durning scored a 100 percent, designating her achievement as a Centurion with the distinction of receiving an honor chord for graduation.

Seven classes participated in the Financial Literacy Certification test from the Business Department’s Personal Finance course, taught by Demond Cowins, Cheryl Dunlap, Maria Frangos, Anne Hanson, Jason Lamont-Jackson, Janelle Morales and Kim Szalkai.
