Recent Middlesex Community College graduate Daniel Iknaian of Waltham has received a $1,000 Transfer Scholarship from Teachers of Accounting at Two Year Colleges (TACTYC) for the 2018-19 academic year.

Iknaian graduated this past spring with an Associate degree in Science in Business Administration Transfer degree, with a 3.88 grade-point average. He plans to continue his education at UMass Lowell and earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting and Information Systems), then pursue a Master’s degree and CPA certification.

Vikram Sharma, MCC associate professor of Business, nominated Iknaian for the TACTYC scholarship.

“Daniel is an extremely hard-working and dedicated student,” Sharma said. “He is passionate about accounting and performed brilliantly on his exams.”

At Middlesex, Iknaian served as treasurer of the Business & Economics Club, and is an active member of DECA, the international organization that prepares emerging leaders in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. He recently won medals in regional and national DECA competitions.

“Daniel’s accomplishments at MCC are a great inspiration to other students,” Sharma said. “His key strength is his strong sense of perseverance. He goes the extra mile to excel in whatever he pursues.”
