ONONDAGA, Mich. — Highfields recently received a $27,314 grant from the Community Foundation. The grant will help further Highfields’ mission by enhancing knowledge and skills for the Senior Leadership Team.

“We appreciate the support of the Community Foundation in building leadership capacity that will support Highfields’ success for many years to come,” said Brian Philson, President and CEO of Highfields.

Three of six senior leaders have transitioned into retirement, or other positions within the Highfields’ team. The new staff stepping into the roles of Community Services, and Fund Development, are recognized for their new energy and skills. Senior leadership training will include Non-Profit Executive Leadership, Fundraising Management, Certified Managerial Accounting and Performance and Quality Improvement, provided by Lily School of Philanthropy, Michigan Federation for Children, Council on Accreditation and Gleim. Together, the collective leadership team will be able to advance certification in their fields, as well as form cohesive relationships with each other and the board.

Highfields is a nonprofit human services organization which provides home-based counseling, a residential treatment facility for boy ages 11-17 and experimental education and support programs for children, youth and families in 13 mid-Michigan counties.
