American Intellectual Property Association

Salvatore Anastasi, a partner at Barley Snyder and the chair of its Intellectual Property Practice Group, has been named treasurer and member of the board of directors of the American Intellectual Property Association. The AIPLA is a national bar association with more than 13,500 members in private and corporate practice, in government service and in the academic community, according to its website. Anastasi has been very active at the national level with the AIPLA. He has been a board member and a member of many of its committees, a former chair of the Public Education Committee and a former chair of the Law Practice Management Committee. He is also an AIPLA Fellow. Currently, he is a member of the organization’s Patent Harmonization Task Force, which strives to improve both procedural and substantive patent rules/laws around the world.

WellSpan

Dr. Mitchell Crawford is the new director of addiction services for WellSpan Philhaven. He provides support and creates clinical services for the treatment of addiction throughout the entire WellSpan Health system in Adams, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties. Crawford has received specialized training in the treatment of substance abuse disorders, such as those involving opioids, alcohol and nicotine. He is an advocate of medication assisted treatment, which uses medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapy, for patients with substance use disorders. A native of Lancaster County, Crawford earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and did a psychiatric residency at Harvard Medical School/VA Boston Healthcare.

Alvernia University

Leslie Kane has been named associate vice president for human resources. Her appointment is part of the university’s continuation to align its senior leadership team to support a new strategic direction and completes the effort to bring the human resources function in-house. Before the new appointment, Kane served as an HR consultant in Philadelphia, designing workshops for individual growth, leadership and team experience. Before that, she served as the first vice president, HR director, learning and employee development for First Niagara Financial Group, leading individual and enterprise wide learning initiatives for over 5500 employees at multiple geographic locations.

She holds a post-baccalaureate certificate of professional studies in human resources from Ursinus College and a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Delaware. Kane began her new appointment Dec. 2.
