UAHT adds new classes, certification programs

The University of Arkansas at Hope-Texarkana has added new classes and programs to the fall 2018 schedule. One of the new classes the Texarkana campus will offer is basic welding, which will be offered via the college’s mobile welding classroom. The three-credit-hour course will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The course is limited to 10 students.

A new certificate program at the Texarkana campus this fall is a Certificate of Proficiency in Industrial Technology—Multi-Craft option. The 13-credit-hour program is designed to meet the demand for industrial machinery mechanics, maintenance workers and millwrights and put students to work in just months.

UA-Texarkana has also has partnered with Texas A&M University-Texarkana to provide a new A.S. in Business Studies to B.A. in Business Administration degree transfer program. Students who complete the A.S. Business studies degree at UA Hope-Texarkana will be able to transfer seamlessly into the B.A. in Business Administration program at Texas A&M-Texarkana. Once in the B.A. in Business Administration program, students can choose to major in accounting, finance, management, marketing, management information systems, or supply chain management.

Along with these new programs, UA Hope-Texarkana offers students more than 50 degree and certificate options in fields including Online Funeral Services, Surgical Scrub Technician, Welding, Emergency Medical Services, Evening Nursing and more. Classes are offered nights, weekends and online to accommodate busy schedules.

The college also offers the most affordable tuition and fees in the State of Arkansas. Bowie and Cass County residents also receive in-state tuition rates. The college offers more than 120 privately-funded scholarships. An affordable book rental program is also in place in which books cost $20 per credit hour. The program saves students almost $900 per semester versus buying new books and has saved the college’s students almost three-quarters of a million dollars over the past year.

Registration is currently open for fall classes. New Student Orientation will be held on the Hope campus from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 and on the Texarkana campus from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 16. An evening orientation will also be held on each campus fro 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20.
